Patch 1.2.0 hides Resident and Special Target areas at match start. Civilians uncover them by proximity and by convincing Residents. Michael sees them gradually by Bloodthirst tier: none at tier 0, one Resident area at tier 1, half the Residents plus one Special Target at tier 2, and everything plus Special Target beams at tier 3. Michael also gains damage, Bloodthirst, damage-resistance and status-resistance buffs when three or more targets surround him. Civilians can no longer be Dazed, Police Reinforcements spawn armed, and 19 perks were retuned.

IllFonic says 1.1.0 already slowed match pacing, and 1.2.0 goes further so players have more time to settle into their roles. IllFonic — Tower Farm Terror (Patch 1.2.0 notes) ↗ IllFonic — Patch Notes 1.1.0 ↗ The changes, per IllFonic — Tower Farm Terror (Patch 1.2.0 notes) ↗:
For Civilians:
- Resident and Special Target areas are no longer marked on the map at the start of a match.
- Resident areas are shown and uncovered based on how close players are.
- Each Resident you convince increases your discovery range and marks one Special Target, until all are marked.
- Once enough Residents are dead or escaped, the Special Targets are marked automatically.
- Residents and Special Targets are more likely to give escape items or locations after a successful conversation.
For Michael (unhidden targets only, as Bloodthirst rises):
- Tier 0: no target areas shown.
- Tier 1: one random Resident area revealed.
- Tier 2: 50% of Resident areas marked and one Special Target area revealed.
- Tier 3: all remaining Resident and Special Target areas revealed, plus the Special Target beams.
Target areas also changed size and visibility for each team, so markings are deliberately vaguer.
Michael’s Group Rage combat scaling
Michael now gets a buff when three or more targets are near him, and it grows with the number of targets. It increases his damage, Bloodthirst gain, damage resistance and status-effect resistances. IllFonic — Tower Farm Terror (Patch 1.2.0 notes) ↗ No percentages are published. Groups that rush Michael together should expect a tougher fight than before; see how to arrest Michael for the police route.
Where this fits

- The Pickaxe no longer inflicts Dazed.

- Shadow Strike now causes damage.
- The Pitchfork now inflicts Bleed.
- Using Reality Tear to exit Shape Jump now Staggers Michael.
- For a short time after Michael gets up from Downed, Civilians find it harder to break out of a Grab.

- Fixed: Evil Presence could be used while incapacitated; Context Executions did not grant the right Bloodthirst.
General changes: three new Context Executions, and a shorter attack lunge for the Wood Axe, Pickaxe and Pitchfork. Escape interactions now create noise pings.

What this likely means in matches
EDITORIAL, NOT A NEW FACT
Everything above is sourced; this box is our reading of it. Hidden targets plus Bloodthirst-gated reveals should make the opening minutes slower and more about scouting, for both sides. Group Rage and the harder grab escapes after a knockdown push against the coordinated melee rush that 1.0.3 also targeted. Most top-tier perk values came down. We have not measured any of this in-game.
Questions before you retry
